TR2/3/3A Mystery Wood

This wood piece is at least a mystery to me. I started removing the outer sill and as I did I noticed this wood piece between the B post and the rear quarter panel. It appears to be held in by the little metal tabs. It looks to be rotted but I don't see it listed by any of the vendors. Any help identifying it will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Jeff

I have that too and can't find a use for it. Sometimes triumph used wood to create a surface to staple to. Is there a door seal that staples on there. I don't have one but my car is not complete.

Tacking strip for the fur flex seal around the door. It’s kind of a weird cardboard like material. You can substitute wood or anything else to use to attach the seal if what you have is in poor shape.

I agree with Randy. It is not wood but rather a cardboard like material that has been twisted and shaped to fit in that groove. Best to replace with wood or what ever will hold a tack.

The fur flex seal tacks on and then the vinyl covered panel covers the ugly tacks. The panel screws to the steel.

That stuff is almost like the rope we used to use to seal cast iron pipe. Maybe cardboard mixed with glue. Use a soft wood like Douglas fir or pine.
