mystery ignition switch on interceptor 2

can anyone help in identifying the expired ignition switch on my jensen interceptor 11.
it is supposed to be fitted with a jaguar (lucas) but i am told it is not. if it is a conversion, then it is a really good one and i am reluctant to reverse it to lucas.
any suggestions would be appreciated.

that looks like the switch fitted to the Triumph 2000 Mk 2 range (and probably many other Triumphs that have a column ignition switch?

surely that would mean that it would be a lucas wouldn't it ?

it dosen't have lucas written on it, but i guess that would be a possibility, i'll check it out.

just checked on martin robey engineering site part No is shown as CT5585 for Mk 11 but unfortunately doesn't show a pic maybe they could e-mail a foto

that doesn't sound like a Triumph number and Martin Robey is a Jaguar specialist anyway. If he is thinking MK 2 Jaguar, that ignition switch is nothing like the one Sking is looking for.
I'm certain it is from a column ignition switch, so probably dates it to 70 or later in year.

i should have mentioned that yes it is a steering lock/ignition switch setup.
if it was just a dashboard job i would have used a modern replacement.

well unless my eyes deceived me ,I think if you look up on martin robey's site ,you'll find an online parts catalogue for the jensen,that's how I came up with the part number -worth taking a look at least.
 
Possibly a Marelli unit? Rover used some marelli stuff for a while; the switch numbering reminded me of some fiat bits. Just a really wild thought.....

The guts are certainly accessible. Seems rebuildable by someone who would be willing to deal with the cracked backing plate and the apparent heat damage.....

maybe try a fiat forum.

i have already fixed the switch a few times and it does work but.......

got onto a supplier in italy who recognised it and thinks he can help.
