mystery hole in gearbox hump?

My BJ8 fibreglass transmission hump has a hole on the top near the tail end where it looks like a bolt has pulled through.

All I can think of is that this is for the armrest but my arm rest does not have a mounting tab at the front to mate with the hump.

Am I missing something?

Can you post a photo of where the hole is?
There should be a hole at the rear of the center consul (where it meets the arm rest) gets screwed into the transmission tunnel cover.

Looks like someone missed the desired mark a couple of times, could of been for some aftermarket installation, or a homemade remedy to keep armrest from moving around, maybe. Looks more homemade than factory intended.

Forgot to mention that the centre console is fixed with a bracket bolted to the gb cover at the dash end and the above screw at the front end, the arm rest has a metal lip on the front edge that fits under the centre console above the screw, and the rear of the armrest has a tab each side that screws into the driveshaft cover metalwork near the rear headboards
Cheers Andy

That is the location for the screw that holds the center consul. As mentioned, someone has missed a few times and now the holes are gathered. I'd rivet a thin piece of sheet metal over that area, then once you have your center consul where you want it, you'll make your own hole in the new sheet metal.

Cheers,
Roger

Thanks once again

My armrest does not have a way to mate with the centre consol and time to rip off the cover and take a look how this has been bodged

Nt sure you're making a "statement" that you do not have a way to mate the Console to the Armrest or not?

If you are, the Armrest slides under the center Console about a 1/2 inch or so and the tight fit secures it in place.

The Armrest has two flages on the rear with a hole in each flange that attaches to the steel tunnel directly over the driveshaft.
