I have acquired a Gold Seal 3000 engine block. The casting number is 12B 766 which is a BJ8 block. However, the block has the early style tachometer drive. Anyone out there know how this is possible?
The engine ID tag is not much help - it is AEC2006 RS 33010AA. I have tried to research Austin Gold Seal engines but have not had any luck with the 3 liter size.

I've seen Gold Seal engines for 3000s with either "68G" or "86G" prefixes but never with "AEC" - good luck with your quest!

There was a BJ8 offered for sale by Beverly Hills Car Club in December 2014 that had engine AEC1489RS33210AA. That's the only one I've seen and the only AEC engine recorded in the BJ8 Registry. I'm sure the letters and numbers mean something, but what, I don't know. AEC might be "Austin Engine Company". A lot of Gold Seal 68G engines have "RS" in the serial number, but some have "ADRM" instead.
