SO I had just finished my lunch. Sitting in my bay at the shop, by myself, everyone else having gone to get food, I thought I heard the soor slam. I figured I go see if it was someone coming back, or a parts dilivery or what... As I turned to head to the office I looked out the glass overhead door to the highway, to see 2 vehicles right in front of the shop, wadded togeather pretty bad. I had not heard the door slam. I went into the office and dialed 911, watching out the window to see what was going on. another truck stopped, the driver of one car got out and was on her cell phone also to 911.
As soon as I was off the phone I grabbed my coat and gloves, and headed out to see what I could do. My boss, an ex-fireman, had just pulled in as well. As we approached the badly wadded car, the guy in the truck that had stopped , later found to be the father of the girl driving the badly damaged car, yelled that there were kids in the car. So my sole help to the whole event was to help pry open doors to get the kids out. they seemed ok (thank God for car seats), but the girl driving was really out of it.thankfully a certified EMT that was driving by, stopped to help the driver. Ambulance, fire and police arrived so I stepped out of the way and let the pros handle it.
I think everyone will be ok. there weren't any seemingly life threatening injuries. But it sure had me sook up pretty good, and I wasen't even involved!
Another snow storm in ol' N.Y.
