I couldn't stop myself....

That's no shed... its a brick. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/square.gif

But the MG's nice....

Nice top! Would you like to do a few more?

Tony, You got more of these li'l boogers? A fellow LBC'r here wants one and I've told him they're "hen's teeth." I've had this one since '71. It's been three dif'rent colours, three dif'rent cars. Seen very few between then and now, none for sale. Can't seem to find seals or hardware for 'em either.

I guess we need to talk /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I've got 2 of them (& 1 for late Midgets)...some of the hardware/weatherstriping is available from Victoria British...I've a set of new factory hardtop door top seals listed on my Christmas Sale!

Didn't find the tops onna 'site... called ya an' left a recording with your recording... "TAG!" yer IT!

Oh, they're not for sale! I had 2 others, 1 I stupidly sold, the other somebody lifted off a parts car out in my MG Graveyard one night while I wasn't around....someday I'll find it...it has a mark on it that only I know about & painting won't cover it

Here's a photo - look closely at the MGC & early B under the 4-post lift...black hardtops! & you can just see part of the Midget factory hardtop in the lower right front of the photo on the yellow Midget.

Nice! ...and is that a "see-thru" bommet on the 1100?

Real "show stopper", that... heheee. We always tried to ~avoid~ showin' anyone the engine in the 1100's. Kept the: "Where's th' treadle and howya thread that Singer?" comments down to a minimum /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

That top came out looking really nice. I have what I reckon to be a SnugTop hardtop for my 'B. The fit leaves something to be desired, IMO. It has a crazy vinyl/leather pattern in the outer coating. Been considering having it resurfaced when I get around to replacing the worn seals.

The biggest gripe I have with my top is the driver side door seal doesn't meet the door glass. I have about a 1/8" to 1/4" gap there cause the glass doesn't go up that high. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonod.gif

Yep, that's one of the fiberglass dealer hoods....fiberglass & plexi...has hinges, catch, everything the real hood has (real hood is upstairs in the fiberglass hood's carrying case).....as was explained by the old boy who bought the car new in Kansas City, the hood was on it on the showroom so he made them give it to him....apparently each US dealer got 1 hood that they painted to match whatever car they put it on...that way, the salesmen could explain the front wheel drive, hydrolastic suspension, etc without opening & closing hood....I'm told there are only about 5 of them known to exist today.

I have two of those!...I knew they were rare but not THAT rare....both 78 MGB's currently have perfect original black hardtops...I also know a local guy who has a collection of dilapilated LBC's with at least 3 of those hardtops stacked outside in the feild beside his garage. I wanted to buy one from him for the LE and he said ok, but I never followed up.....I got both of mine in the early 90's.

Heres the best pic I can find of the hardtops...both blue and orange B's have one....I probably should take some good pictures of the cars seperatly.

Now that I think about it I had another one of those tops on my yellow B(painted to match the car) but I must have sold it with the car.....and for anyone who REALLY wants one of these there is a 66 B for sale in the Ontario autotrader(autotrader.ca) with one...I inquired about the car earlier in the week and it is WAY overpriced for the conditon of the car, but maybe you can negotiate for the top.

*sigh* "...stacked in a field..."

Must be some kinda PREVERT to do a thing like that.

Well not far from it...when I was there looking at his collection of LBC's all in various sad states there was some really strange looking guy who wandered around and never introduced himself...one of the reasons I never followed up about the hardtops....he did have some very rare cars though...and Etype, bugeye,MGA, couple TR6's, TR2, TR4 with surrey top, and many MGB GT's...I don't think any were in running condition.although most were in a dry garage.

Where is he located?

Some rural area bout 10 mins from me Iam not sure the exact municipality because it's all screwed up around here...I've seen him at car shows but didn't know who he was until a friend of mine was interested in buying a TD from him so I tagged along and found all the treasures he's hiding....I've thought about going back there to buy some part from him(he has LOADS of parts thrown all over) but I don't have his phone # or full name and I am not sure I am comfortable just driving up the hill to his spooky looking house, never know what you might find, know what I mean?

For some reason there is alot of these "LBC rapist" around this part of the globe...I know of at least 3 all within 20 minutes of me.

Zack

These are rare, but not that rare. One pops up on ebay every 2 or 3 weeks, but is either outrageously priced, or on the other side of the country. I found mine about 15 minutes from me about 1 year ago actually through this site. I traded a pair of early MGB seats and some cash for it.

Seals and other parts for it are available from Macgregor.
