My speedometer isn't working... :[

I figured I'd separate my 2 questions.. make it easier... So during my first short test drive, I noticed the speedometer isn't working. It did work before the car was taken apart.

I've narrowed it down to the cable going into the trans. The cable looks good on the ends, so I took it back out of trans and reinstalled it to make sure it was in correctly. Still nothing. Any thoughts on what to check next?

2 for one.......

Disconnect speedo cable at speedo. Jack one rear corner up and rotate rear wheel so as to turn driveshaft.....clutch in and in hi-gear. See if cable rotates. If so its in the speedo . If not work downwards > cable > speedo driven gear in bullet/trans hole > drive gear on output shaft.

Rack or front suspension.....nut and bolt the rack mounts, steering arms and a general suspension look see. Check rack play which should be very minimal. check splines on pinion input and steer shaft. Check for proper pinch bolt. Somethings moving.
