Well I finally got some new wheels mounted. What'd ya think?

Those 265/35x18s sure fills up the rear wheel wells and they fit perfectly. With 10" in the rear I should be able to keep them planted much better than the old 8" tires did. The front 225/40x18s aren't any different space wise up front just improved the looks. Did all the checks to make sure there wasn't any clearance problems. I then performed a "spirited" road test and observed no handling problems. In fact I think Ride quality isn't any better or worst than it was before. Cosmetically they look cool but now that they’re exposed I’ll probably refinish & paint the calipers – red maybe. But then again I think I might need to consider looking into a big brake kit to fill up those 18” openings.

That looks awesome, I love it! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/iagree.gif They look great. Your neighbors must think you hit the lotto. First all the landscaping then a fancy Porsche. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Ya know it's funny but here I am thinking I'd gone big with the 10" wide rear tires, but some of the Shark guys on the Rennlist.com are telling me I need to push the rear wheels out a little more with some spacers. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

Bret:

It does look like you can push them out a little bit. It is not very expensive to do. It is not only the width of the tire that matters, it also the offset of the rim.

Looks Marvelous!!!

Patrick

that's prolly cause the front tires look like they're right out to the edge of the fender well, while the back tires look like they're in a bit. I bet they're trying to get the distance from fender lip to tire to be about equal.

The rims and tires look good on her for sure. Though, and this is juse my personal preference, I think I might have gone a size wider on the tires. Then again, tires that big aren't exactly "cheap". Either way, looks lots better with the new kicks! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Sadly no – I’m just a frugal Scotsman (i.e. I'm Cheap). But thanks for the compliment anyway. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Excellent... Ya done good! That thing looks mean. :thumbs

Bret - they're nice - nicer than the ones that were on it - but, to me - they don't match the car...but I'm an old fogey!

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/iagree.gif With Tony...But a definate improvement...and the driveway/walkway looks great...Is that patterned concrete or interlock?

Rob your right those big tires carry an equally big price tag /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/square.gif

[/ QUOTE ] Thanks guys, I know that the wheels are a bit updated but if you look closely you’ll find that a lot of sharks (as well as other Porsches) use this wheel design and it is an extremely popular alternative to the burden of replacing or refurbishing the originals. Besides that some of the originals are down right ugly! Thus my choice. That said I think it really updates the car and it looks newer than it really is.

As for our new driveway – it is diamond pattern cut colored concrete. But that is a real flagstone we used for the boarder, walkway divides & the front porch.

Yeah I noticed they look alot like the stockers on new porsches....A good friend of mine just bought a C4S.....What a car, has wheels very similar to those.

Car looks great in that last shot, especially the black...it that chrome circle above the door handle the lock? Looks a little big?

BTW: When they tell you to put clear coat on your colored concrete every year...Listen to them!

yeah... SoCal is in the "brown season" now.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Yup! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif We keep wondering when they're going to burn. That hill side seems to burn about every two or three years. We where all worried during the huge San Diego Fires in Oct 2003. But greatfully the fire never crested that hillside.

"CAUTION! FLAMMABLE!"

My back yard has the same brown vista - about 400 acres of BLM land behind me. Other day it is 115 and i smell smoke. I'm trying to stay calm in front of the kids as I walk out on my deck to sniff it down while my mind is racing through what I need to grab and how much I can stuff in the TR3 along with the kids /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif (and how far I can get with the needle just above E). I look over into my neighbors back yard and the nitwit is building a wood fire in his fire pit.

IT IS 115 DEGREES OUTSIDE AND HE DECIDES HE NEEDS A FIRE.

Moron.

Ain't "civilisation" wonderful?!

for I while I thought there was something wrong with ME that we keep being plagued with insane neighbors. Now I've decided that everyone has problems and you just have to live with it. People always say stuff about how you "can't pick your family" but at least you can keep THEM at bay. It's just a crap-shoot when you buy a house and all you can do is keep your head down, don't make eye contact, live your life, and call the appropriate authorities when things get too nutty /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I live in a court of 5 homes....The advantage of that is I can park cars in court....The disadvantage is more neighbors means more problems. Of the five there is one I'd consider a good neighbor. The rest would rather call ticket patrol on my 'illegally' parked cars, or claim noise pollution on my camaro, my grinding at 11pm, or the oldies blasting from the garage....Oh well what can you do, thats what you get for living in a subdivision. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif
