Well, I wish I had found this forum a long time ago. Lots of answers to questions I had years ago.

I have tinkered with cars off on on most of my life, mostly from a mechanical point of view. None of that experience was with an LBC, though. About six years ago I began researching cars to find a good "first" car to rebuild. I stumbled upon the Austin Healey Sprite. Boy, I thought (and still do) that's a cute darn car. I read up on the Sprite and Midgets and then started looking around and found a local candidate in town. Not knowing what to look for, I bought it. A car which had been barn and warehouse parked since I believe the early '70s. While searching, I also found a rusted out parts car in a junk yard about 100 miles away. I bought it also and the beginnings of an on and off again rebuild began and continues.

A lot of mistakes have been made along the way, money has been spent which should not have been and some cussing has also occured. But I have enjoyed every minute so far.

The details are: '59 Sprite, 1275 motor, rivergate 5 speed conversion and disc brakes. The rest will be stock or near stock unless I get a wild idea further along in the process.

Thought I would share a few pictures:

Hopefully the drivetrain will be in before Thanksgiving.

Welcome! (I just pulled a 1275 out of a parts car today).

Welcome, and it looks like Miss Agatha has a friend.

See link below. Going back together preaty much orginal as I can do it.

Not near enough pictures by the way.

Where are you located>|??

Welcome, Allen. Looks like you're making really good progress. Quite a number of Bugeye sorts around here, so you should fit right in. Found mine ready to go, but am in the process of swapping in a 1275 right now (Pictures at the link in my sig below).

There's always more questions, and lots of folks around here with answers.

Jack,

Yes, Miss Agatha has a friend. Very nice job you are doing by the way.

I'm in Roanoke, VA. Lots of twisty roads here in the Blue Ridge Mountains to play on once I have this car done.

I'll post more pictures soon. A lot of the "before" shots are not digital.

Whoo, Roanoke a long way from Niceville. Yep lots of good roads.

Sure is nice to see another Bugeye on the way to recovery. I expect the ones we save now will be saved for all time.

When you get her done, take a run up Poor Mountain Road , in Salem. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I didn't see that any beer was spilt in the process? Anyway, welcome to BCR. All of us are enthusist in different stages of our relationships withour lbcs. It seems to me that you have jumped many of these by starting with the mods you are doing, they are all the best and you will really enjoy them. I find that I keep repetting some, but when you have a car 25 yrs. I guess things wear out or you want to upgrade. Good luck and enjoy!!!!!

you have a good start, and i agree with jack,OUR cart are the ones thatll be selling for crazy prices in 30 years ; ) ...zimmmmy

Spill perfectly good beer? I try not to, but a few pints have definitely been consumed in the garage. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thirsty.gif
