Well,I did it.It was parked next door,& I
couldn't resist.
1960 Chevrolet Apache 30 (1ton),that was used by
a small, local logging town as an ambulance,& later as
a HazMat truck.
It's a Red panel truck with.....5131 miles on it-
that's like 100 miles a year.Stored indoors.4 speed w/-
granny low,235-6 cylinder,almost no rust.
Does anyone know where I could go to find the specs
on this truck?I didn't get the owner's manual,but have
the registrations dating back to 1960.
I've asked Drew to post pictures for me (still can't-
figure it out),so hopefully you'll get to see what I'm
referring to.
It also has the original 8lug wheels with tires from
who knows when (Uniroyal 7.50 - 17).What will interchange
wheels/tires,with these?
I forgot how old this truck is - no seatbelts!Live life
on the edge!
Any help with information is greatly appreciated.

- Doug

sounds very cool! I love old trucks. I know that Vintage Truck magazine could be a source, also think that a division of VB sells old domestic truck parts (LMC trucks?)

Doug, I swear, you are a glutton for punishment.

How does your wife live with you!?

Here are the pictures. Normally I would give Doug lots of grief over a new purchase, but for this truck he gets a pass. Only thing I'd do is replace the rear bumper, and off you go.

Original milage.it has an hour meter that reads "307 hours".

Man, I am SOOOOOO jealous. I have a thing for Chevy trucks of this vintage. I had a 66 long bed pickup that I sold during a divorce. It had a zillion miles, and east coast rust. Still, it was a cool truck. As far as I know, later GM wheels will interchange, but it depends on how many studs. I think 1 tons were 8 lug, but of course, I could be wrong. Nice Truck there fella.

Nice unit Doug!

I don't see these very often, and I do like an unusual truck...

Nice Score!

Thanks! I'm still sorting things out.Washed & srubbed it down,
evicted as many spiders as I could. It needs a major detail & wax-
ing on the exterior.
I might keep the split rims,as there are tire places around here
that still work on them, but where do you find 7.50 - 17 tires? It has
Uniroyals on it - possibly original?
If anyone has an owner's manual, shop manual,or can tell me anything
about it,please let me know.
And BTW Drew - that's one of the original 5mph bumpers!

- Doug

Doug, The one thing I'd be concerned with is the split rims. If originality is not critical, I'd replace them with a later style. Not that their bad, it's just that their a pain to work on and the tires for them are usually heavy duty truck tires that are designed to carry heavy loads and have a very hard ride. Just a suggestion. PJ

Ok...here's the plan! Split the body down the center, widen it 6 inches, weld the back doors together so they look "stock" but tilt down to become a ramp and you have a car hauler! The average eye will never know!!

That's because anything that hits it at 5mph will be totaled!

Nobody around here will touch split rims. Keep the tires you have on them and get another set of newer size rims that has a better tire selection. You'll still have the original set if you ever decide to sell.

You can make it into a replica of the Standard-Triumph support vehicles used in rallies in Canada in the '60s. Paint it British Racing Green with the T-S logo on the sides.

Doug, I think you missed a golden oppertunity here. Sell that beast and buy this
