OK, 0-60 is a bit lame but speed is not all the fun. Check out this pic (not mine.) Mine arrives later this week.

For options I have the mid-mount-mower and front mounted snow blower.

I checked out Massey Ferguson first (TR content) but liked the Kubota better for the $.

There's a small town in Vermont where they had a heated debate at the town council meeting about the purchase of a new Kubota for the municipality. The citizens wanted to buy something like John Deere, a well known American brand. So after the extended debate (several months) they all agreed to buy the John Deere even though it was more expensive. When it arrived, the whole town turned out to look at it. It was now that they found out that it had been made in Japan and the Kubota they had originally planned to buy would have been made in Wisconsin. Now go figure.

I bought a MF 1030 a number of years ago, made in japan, good little tractor. Also have the backhoe, tiller, blade, mower, snowblower (obviously) and some other bits. handiest darn wheelbarrow I've ever owned. I can't get a pic to post. but I know you'll enjoy your new toy.

I checked out the MF GC2410 this morning before I bought the Kubota. All the sub-compacts are made in Japan (good) or India (not as good).

The Massey was nice but the dealer wouldn't deal.

This one is 24HP 2008 model. Can't wait to get it here and dig a hole ... or sometin'

Peter:

Just one piece of advice, especially about the backhoe, go slow to dig fast. After you figure it out and have done a few things you'll find an efficient pace. I had a little 20HP Kubota years ago and in my impatient youth flipped it three times, lucky to have all my limbs, not to mention my whits!

You won't believe how little fuel it uses, a buddy bought a 35HP a few months ago, too big for around the house little stuff, but a stout tractor.

Did you get a snowblower?

Have fun.

Bill

Bill, Thanks for the tip. I got a 50" two-stage snow blower with manual chute rotator. They wanted $743 for a hydraulic option - huh? A guy on the tractor forum converted his chute to electric using a electric window lift motor from Ebay for $25. Easy project to mod.

Ok that is cool... diesel or petrol???

I want one...

Years ago I had a small Kubota tractor for ag research and demonstration plots. Before that I had an International 140, a tractor highly revered by farmers. The Kubota was the same design layout as the International, but it so far ahead of the International it was not funny.

No American company has made small tractors in the country for over 20 years. By small I mean <75 HP.

PeterK, do not attempt to lift a Riley 2.5 engine from the tailgate of a truck using your bucket.

I have experimented with this...

The rear wheels will lose contact with the Earth.

That's what the back hoe is for - just hang it out to counterbalance. So my wife will never have to lift anything heavy with me again, right? That's what I told her when we were buying the tractor anyway

PeterK, what model is this one? I've been looking at these for a while, and rented both the 32 & 50 horse models but they were just a big large for my well treed 2 acres. Need something that will move earth but not whack trees with no regard...

Any Kubota dealers lurking that want to make a few sales?
