My Internet System Was Hacked!

Last night we turned on the TV in the family room and all was well until we tried to go to streaming. The TV wanted a password? Never happened before. Ok I went into settings and it wouldn't except my password! Went to my computer to access the network settings and found two unknown networks in the system, one has the same name as a neighbor close by!? Checked all the security settings, firewalls etc and they were suposidly ok, so, I changed to a VPN network and it allowed me to delete the two unknowns. For the last two + months we've been on fiber optic cable. Can someone hack into a fiber optic system? Hopefully problem solved. The TV is working as normal again. Will keep checking. :rolleyes2:

Paul - do you have a wi-fi router?

Tom, the router is the one for the fiber optic system, installed by the company. Yes we have WIFI. Amazing how secure the VPN network seems to be. We'll see.

Thanks Paul. Did you change the wifi router password when the fiber optic system was installed? If not, it could be broadcasting with a default password.

Tom, the installer installed a specific password for our router, I have to give permission for someone else to use it, such as a guest visiting us, like our son.
