1965...I bought my first TR. It was a '63 (CT20,xxx) with about 20,000 miles on it. It was the second car I ever owned. At the time, I was going to Northeastern University, and was staying at the Alpha Kappa Sigma fraternity house, as there was no room left in the dormitories due to my applying late to the school. I eventually became a brother. The car served me well. Very reliable and a blast to drive. What better car to have as a college student in 1965.
Fast forward to 1969 when I joined the army. I still had the car, and even brought the car down to Georgia while undergoing training after boot camp. Well, on my leave before being sent to Thailand, I went back up to Boston to say my farewells to the brothers at AKS, when I got into an accident on a wet road with the TR4. Fortunately, there were no other cars involved and no one got hurt, except me...I needed a few stitches in my eyelid. Since I was in the hospital at the time, I didn't see the car being towed away. I also didn't know where they towed it to. Since I had to get on my way to Thailand, I just let the car issue die on the vine, as I knew I had hit pretty hard and didn't want to deal with it.
As it turned out, a few months ago, I located one of my fraternity brothers that I was pretty close with, and he sent me some pictures of the car after it was towed and sitting in some lot. I never knew that he had taken them. It was the first time I really saw what happened to the car.
I don't think that will buff out!!!
Here are some before and after pics...
BTW, the before pics are the only ones I have of the car. The lady in the pics is a whole 'nother story.
