Well this is my first post found the site off of spritespot.com which is also an excellent site. I must say I have really enjoyed diging through almost half of the previous posts on the spridget forum before joining.
My car is AN5-1740 which I brought home in late october. The first owner was in southern california and had the car from 1958-1999. After his death his son auctioned it off and it was bought by a gentleman here in SC where it has been over the past 7 years.
This is my first LBC. I always planned on restoring an MGA first and have been looking forward to owning one since I was 13. The bugeye has always been one of my three favorites (Bugeye, MGA, and TR3). Some day I want one of each they all have a very special and unique appeal. My dad has always found it odd that I liked these cars so much (he resores old dodge trucks) as I was born only one year before they quit building MG's.
This car was in the right place at the right time and has been an excellent first project. Right now the body has been completely stripped and was 99.5% rust free. With some old lead bodywork having accumulated early in its life. It is off getting paint right now. I have finished cleaning the engine and transmission up (It ran perfect before being pulled) and have a nice coat of engine green in place. I am currently sorting through the suspension parts cleaning off years of accumulated debris.
Again this site is a wonderful resource and I am certain I will be asking all the sages on this site for advice in the coming reassembly.
Here are some of the pics I took before and during early stages of disassembly.

Welcome, good to have you with us. Oh yea, we like pics.

nice car and in great shape from the pics ... did they tell you they like pics? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Welcome. Your car is pretty close to the build number on my project car.

Welcome and good luck!!

Good score! Welcome to THE forum, too.

Good for you!! Dark Green with green trim is fairly rare. Only producted cars in that color from from March through December 1958. Your car was produced in June 1958. The red fan blades are proper for you car. Later fan blades were bright yellow. The "domed cap" wiper motor is correct as well. Lots of originality in your car I would urge you to restore it that way. Not many cars left with that opportunity.

Welcome to the forum. That's a nice looking car you've found, looks quite solid from the pictures. Enjoy the restoration, and keep us informed.

And did we mention we like pictures? (It's a running joke around here if you haven't already guessed...) /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Welcome aboard! That car is a real find! Just follow the advice all these guys have to offer and you can't go wrong!!

It looks like you found a great car. Often, people start with a lot less. It is a great find. Good luck

I believe you bought your car around the same time as I bought mine they were listed on ebay simultaneously. I really like the white with red interior scheme. It is actually my favorite on the BE. I do like the Dark green very much and I am having the car resprayed as close to the color as I could get. The new color is a hint deeper, but I kinda wanted it that way. I agree that the green on green is hard to find. I think in my 14 years of being a LBC enthusiast I have never seen another, most are replaced with tan or black. I was very fortunate in that the PO had ordered a complete interior from AH spares. The green vinyl at first appears too light but after I had a closer look at some of the unexposed portions of the old stuff it might just be a dead on match. The hardura kit is identical in every respect to the original. I have a few fragments of the rubber floor and it was also green (an unusual shade infact). I have a green carpet kit as well but I really dont care for the shade, but I will probably end up using it.
