Just a curious question. Is there an advantage to having RHD on a race car, or is it just preference?
The next time you're at Watkins Glen, I'd like to know.
I only live about 4-5 hours away, and sure would enjoy watching this racing.
Besides, we could always encourage Banjo to come out and play.
Many years ago, RWD was considered better for racing and it's probably still better at the upper levels (like F1 racing).
But for amateurs like me, it really makes no difference. Modern race tires basically negate any theoretical difference, at least at the hobby level.
Of course, driving FWD is different than RWD. With front-drive, you enter the corner slower and get on the gas sooner. Apex is usually later with front-drive too. If bad things starts happening in mid-turn, you <span style="text-decoration: underline">must</span> keep the gas <span style="text-decoration: underline">on</span> with FWD or things go to the he11 in a handbasket. RWD is a bit more forgiving in that respect.
I'll probably be at Watkins Glen in mid-October in '09 with ~VRG~
