My buddy is dying

My sympathies too. Been 16 years since our 'Jack' left us and still the days are still less special without him. Treasure the memories.

You get back so much more than you give.

As long as you love them, they love you back unconditionally.

Those two statements just sums it all up. Makes me cry too Basil, and I'm pretty sure anyone here that has ever had a pet, understands completely, and has wiped away a tear too.

I think you'll see him again down the road a piece. I plan on seeing Wrigley, Skunky, Rebel, Toby, Waldo, Flip & Squirrel sometime too.

Oh God yes. Please, all together in my lap.

Oh man I'm such a louse.... I knew where this thread was going, so I avoided it. so now it's two days after the fact.....
So sorry Basil... I raise a mug in honor and remberance.
To a friends dear friend! may he greet you at heavens door, tail wagging.

Doc just told me "Jack's gonna have a helluva pile in his lap!"

You'll always be blessed with the priceless memories of a lifelong friend. I relate to your pain, and share your loss, Basil.

Ben, you an' me are of same mind. I truly expect either to be walking into a place with ALL my friends in the room or I'm turning tail and goin' to find the NEXT room where they're havin' the party... the search can go on to infinity at that point... If I'm "sentient" there, I'll have *time*. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

I'm so sorry for your loss, Basil.

I always think of mine ( when they go ) sitting around at the Rainbow Bridge having a conversation with other dogs who are waiting there:

Other dog: "Welcome Sister! Let's go romp around! No pain here and there's plenty of fun stuff to do."

My dog:" Thanks, but I might ought to wait here for my human."

"Oh don't worry about him. He'll be here when it's his time to pick you up and go on"

"Ummm. It's not that. It's just that he's so inept, if I don't keep a lookout for him, he'll probably cross the wrong bridge!"

Sorry to read that Chance has passed. That was a lot quicker than I thought it would be. He is at peace no and no longer in pain. Take comfort in the joy you shared together.
