My Alfa - mystery electronics pics...

Offline
Well, here's one of the mystery parts... It's a blackbox /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif, but I opened it. It is made by Ranco - they make electronic controls for climate controls and thermostat controls and fan speed controls. Was it supposed to be there?

Here's the other one... It's a pretty hefty ceramic rheostat (missing it's moving parts)... I think I figured out where it's supposed to go (on the left side of the column cover), but it has a red and black wire, and the only loose wires under the column are black and yellow ones. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif And all the dash lights work.

I have to say I never saw ANYTHING like either one of those bits on an Alfa.

EDIT: Forgot to mention; the rheostat in the column doesn't do anything to the instrument lights. It only controls the lights in the switches. Kinda silly, but hey, that's Italian.

Ahhh, I didn't know there were lights down there... I think I'll just bypass the rheostat, and conect the 2 wires under the column.

On the Alfa forum, their electrics guru said the blackbox might be the thermostat control for the A/C, but as it seems to be working at the moment (not sure how Tony bypassed it but), I'll leave it alone. I'll hang onto it though just in case I need it later.
