in the stats section under the main forum page, it says "Most users ever online was 9,286, 01-05-2016 at 03:55 PM."

Of course these are not just users logged in. I'm thinking with nearly 10k computers hitting the forum at once we might have actually been under a dDOS attack at that time.

It would be interesting if those 9000 "users" all hit in a few minutes before 3:55, or does the software just give a once-daily report, which happened to be issued at 3:55?

Does the software also record IPs for all the "users"?

Actually I think all those people were online withing 2 hours of each other. Still, 9000 within that period is much higher than average. Hard to tell if the majority of them were spreadout over a two hour period or happened all at once without looking at the stats on the server for that date (that data has likely been purged by now)
