Music for my BN2 ?

Hello all,
Now that I am taking longer and longer trips in my car I'd like to figure out a way to run the music from an ipod and or a small FM radio tuner (also shirt pocket size) through some small speakers. I have been looking through the archives, and on line sources, and most of you guys are way out of my league when it comes to the quality of sound you appreciate. I'm not a Hi Fi guy. I'm hoping somebody can short-cut my research. What I want is a couple of small amplified(6" or less) speakers that will run off 12 volts and give me a reasonable output to hear some music over the more or less monotone of the exhaust note. I am not averse to having a separate amplifier if it is small, but speakers with built in amps would be great. Is there such a thing that runs off 12 volts? Any brands, part numbers, or suggestions would be appreciated. I might also add that I'm saving my money for a rag top and do not want to spend more than I have to to get sound that is acceptable to my tin ear. I know this may be an anathema to some of you audiophiles, but I'm going for simple here. The ipod was a huge step for me. Thanks for any thoughts.

Jon
