TR2/3/3A Moving & Setting Body on the Frame TR3A Lifting P

Afternoon all. Thursday May 28th will be a momentous moment in the restoration of my TR. I plan on taking the body off the roll around frame that it has been on since about 2001 and setting it on the TR frame, permanently! YEA! I plan on using the roll around A-Frame seen in the picture and using the chain fall to lift it off and rolling it to the frame and setting it on the frame and bolting it in. I will use a landscape timber, attach rope to the front and back end of the timber and use the chain fall hooked in the middle of the timber to hoist it up and roll it over the frame. My question is, what would be good front and back attachement points to use. Or should I just loop the rope around the body at both ends and lift it that way.
Your thoughts greatly appreciated!

Don't know the best way, but I did participate as a helper where we just used aging-manpower to lift a body and place on the frame. Took about 6 people, only a couple of which were in any reasonable shape - and that was a full body, cowl, fenders and doors included.

By the way, that is one nifty looking garage you have there!

Man, that's an awfully heavy duty looking a-frame to lift a sheet!!!
How big of a frame are you going to need to lift the body of the car??!!! LOL

The easiest way is to lift the body up and then roll the frame underneath it rather than try to move the suspended body over the frame.

I cheated and used ratchet straps around the body and over the runways of my 4-post lift. Then I used the lift to gently lower it back on to the frame.
 
I'm with Dick on the manpower method. I will also use 6 people to put the body on the frame. 1 person in each corner and 2 to align things up. Worked great that way on the TR6. I work construction so finding 4 strong people is no problem. That way you can take your time lowering it onto the frame. The beer can get expensive though. I hope to be doing the same thing in the next couple of months for a trial fit.

Those must be the new Lucas style rally lights I've been reading about.
 
I concur with Mallard...

Six guys are all you need. If you have rust issues, try bracing before lifting.

When I got done I asked the guys helping to be pall bearers if I am done in by the sweet wife. Everything tastes like almonds now...

Cool garage, and the lights add a nice touch.

Dick: This is what we have been using. these shop cranes are quite adequate as the body shells are no so heavy. remember to watch your back!

Rich if it does, I don't know where it might be. Lot of good info on putting it back together, shows the mounting points but not the lifting points.
I sent Frank a question about it so maybe will be able to help out. Your suggestion did steer me into the body section of the manual and I will really need that info in the coming weeks as I reassemble it all.

Dick - My son, my neighbour, a TR friend and I lifted the body onto the frame very easily. No problem. We did it on New Years Eve 1989.

Don, from what I see, you guys didn't linger around outside that day. Sure looks cold!!!!!
