getting ready to add some oil into my rebuilt 1300 motor now whats all this break in oil about; and how long should i keep it in the motor before changing it to a multi grade oil and any ideas about oil brands like brad penn or royal purple ; etc.
 
I ran Brad Penn Break In Oil for 30 minutes, changed it using Brad Penn 20w-50 Racing Oil. Planned to run that for about 1000 miles, but a blown head gasket altered that plan. I'll run this oil until my annual oil change next spring and stick with the Racing Oil.

Brad Penn is a high quality oil. The Racing "Green" Oil has the necessary lubricants for our engines.

What weights, single grade or multigrade Brad Penn do you use? I.ve got to change from the 20-50 Castrol as it just takes too long for the pressure to drop down to a normal range and cold weather is coming as well.
 
You might try this. It has the elusive ZDDP as well.

My builder suggested 10w-30. At that time I had the aux bypass and I felt the idle pressure on a warm day was lower than I liked. So I switched to 15w-40 on the second oil change and removed the bypass. That was 5 years and about 20,000 miles ago and I have stayed with it. When the engine is cold the pressure is high. Until the oil in the sump warms up it can nearly peg the gauge. After all is warmed up, usually in 2 or 3 miles, I have 25psi at idle and 70-75 psi at 1500rpm and higher. That was with the Citgo oil I was using, I was using the Citgo 500 after calling the company and talking to one of their engineers to verify the zddp content.

The Brad Penn 15w-40 gives the same pressure readings as the Citgo did. So I would think that what ever viscosity you currently use the corresponding Brad Penn oil would match your current readings.
