Moto-Lita Steering Wheel

Another question as I move forward with my reassembly.....I have a Moto-Lita steering wheel with adapter for the '60 Sprite. I thought for sure that the the original plinth? (plastic cone-shaped thing between the wheel and the dash) would have to be reinstalled before installing the ML adapter (how otherwise am I going to cover the three holes in the dash) However, with the plinth in place, I can't install the horn brush that came with the ML kit.....at least haven't been able to figure out how. Has anyone done this installation? Of course, there were no instructions with the ML kit! Does the plinth need to be modified? Removed? Or? If so, what about the mounting holes in the dash? Help!

Thanks....

Dn't early Sprites have dash mounted horns?

Bugeyes have the horn push in the wheel center.

Pretty sure the Moto Lita center should use the standard plinth. Should be some folks here with them on their cars who can chime in.

I installed the same steering wheel in my '60.....it should all hook up just fine. What problem are you having?

The M-L comes with a horn brush and a hole in the adapter in which to insert it. On the plinth, installed first, is a brass (?) Ring, which covers the face of the plinth. There is a wire leading from this ring (presumably connected), which I assume connects to the wiring harness. This is the same part I removed when I disassembled it about three years ago. So I don't know if it had been modified previously. I have the old horn brush, too. The M-L brush is shorter than the original and comes with a wire attached. If I use the M-L brush, there does not seem to be anywhere for the wire to pass through the plinth. I wonder if I should make a hole in the plinth for the wire to pass through, remove the brass ring, or? Once I figure out how to attach a couple of pics, I will send them along.

Plinth looks correct. Yes, connect the wire on the back side to the wire harness. The Moto Lita brush appears to be installed backwards. Moto Lita brush should be facing the plinth, with the wire extending toward the driver, which connects to the horn button.
BTW, a common problem with the BE is that the steering column does not provide a good ground. This is due to buildup of paint, etc. I had to run an extra wire from the steering rack to chassis to get a reliable horn sound.

Great....Thanks! I'll take another shot at it......

So the next question Bill is does it beep yet?
