Moto Lita on a '75 Elite

Well, I dragged home another orphan car, a '75 Lotus Elite and since I had a Moto Lita wheel kicking around the garage, I went to fit it using Moss Mtrs. part # 853-786, the boss/adapter for early Spitfires and TR-6s-- I assumed it would be Moto Lita part # B20H, shown on Moto Lita's site to be the part for those cars as well as the Elite.

Anyway, what arrived from Moss was an adapter in a Tourist Trophy box, and while it fits the Moto Lita wheel, it does NOT fit the conical splines of the Elite's steering column-- the hole is too small and it doesn't look like it has the same number of splines. The threaded end of the steering shaft is recessed about 1/4" in the boss. The part has a sticker in it numbered "CH003."

Has anyone had this experience with this part? What gives?

Thanks!

Not having tried fitting an Elite with an aftermarket wheel, I can't offer definitive info, but I would expect the TR-6 hub to be correct. Could it be the hub was mis-packaged? A call to Moss and an explanation as to what you are trying to do may help.
