Saw a beautifully restored '56 Morgan 4/4 yesterday. Actually saw part of it. It was covered in the back corner of a high end restoration shop waiting for its interior. They did uncover the front and open the bonnet for me to see. The location was not good for photos but I did get one of the engine. It is a Ford 100E, identical to the one in my Prefect (see my avatar). Even has the same Solex carb, Ford 3 speed gearbox and master cylinders. Could not see the diff but final gearing may be different as top speed is advertised as 75 whereas the Prefect will almost make 60. Rumor is that the widow who owns it has spent probably double what it is worth on the restoration. But it was her husband's toy. Anyway, her is what I got.

Lovely. I'm kicking myself for not getting a Morgan Plus 8 back when they were reasonably priced.

From the looks, that's a "curved rad" model rather than the 4/4 Series 1 "flat rad" model (I don't think the "flat rads" came with Ford engines anyway).

I'm no expert on Morgans but if memory serves me I believe it is curved. I saw this car in the shop a few months ago when it was stripped down to no two parts connected. A good friend does the paint and body work at this shop. Unfortunately the owner doesn't like outsiders hanging around and slowing work so I didn't get to see any of its progress.
