I put an early GTV mechanical tach in my '78 Spider when I put in the 1750 engine. It has the O.P. gauge built-in. Sender went FUBAR a month ago, hunted high and low for a Veglia sender. No Joy. Went to Miami for Mom's Day to see SWMBO's mum. While there I wander over to my pals who've got an Alfa shop and they give me a Jaeger tach from a '71 GTV as a replacement. I MacGyvered that into the car last week only to find the sender for the 2L was scrap too! I called all the usual places, anywhere from $35 to $80 and a week to wait. Went to my local NAPA. Less than $20, four day wait and I now know what my oil pressure is again. I fixed the OP panic light too, so another pink wire was used. I feel pretty. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

Great work Doc.

And this also proves that beauty is only ahhheemmm /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

And we all know exactly what "MacGyvered" means! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif
(English is such a *great* language...so descriptive!)

...at least I engineered it well enuff so's not to need "racer's tape"! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

no "100 mph tape" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Whatja do with the old electric tach? Can I have it?

My feeling is that some times MacGyvered is much better than the original! This is especially true in LBCs on things you can't see. (Things you can see often work better, but I like original appearance -- just a personal thing.)

It needs to stay with the 2L. If I find a GTV, the 1750 engine and all instruments & seats stay here, the OEM stuff goes back in the Spider.

Nah... I'm usually layin in bed staring at the ceiling from 5am til 6 or 6:30am... thought I'd just get up today. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Went for a quick walk around the neigborhood already too.

Boat dreams!

Probably... I gotta go cut some new rope/line to proper lengths, and wait for the sun to come up so the hull is dry 'nuff to finish painting it. Might get it onna water today, but tomorrow is my goal.
