Here's a fun one... This picture came to me via an internet contact, nothing is known about as it was purchased. Picture taken in Germany somewhere, probably 1950's, the vehicle carries Berlin (German) plates, seems to be a 1930's or 1940's British truck of some sort, all we have is the back end of the panel van with a glimpse of the front only, any ideas?

it looks like a Morris 10/4 or 12/4. not sure.. Definatly 30s'

More important, what is that written on the back? Is it the german equivalent of " I wish my wife was this dirty"

Curtis
PS Is it a Hillman?

Hello all,
that style does not remind me of any British manufacturers at all, isn't it more likely to be German?

I was thinking even French. Thought at first maybe a 2CV variant but now I don't think so.

To answer the critical question... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif What is all that writing on the car? According to a German friend - On the rear door it reads 'A Porsche wanted to overtake us, but got hot socks'. And above 'We did it'. On the side door it reads 'Entrance'

I don't think it's British. Maybe continental - Peugeot? I think it's LHD - you can just see a hand through the open window right about where a wheel might be. That's not conclusive, but lessens the chance of it being British.

My guess is a late 40s or early 50s Volvo.
The older PV series (not the 444/544) had a pointy nose like this.
Many people say that post-war Volvos looks like Fords. That's why I think it's a Volvo....because it sort of looks like a Ford.
One thing: It appears to have rear-hinged doors which is more a feature of Peugeot or Simca...I'm not sure if Volvos ever had rear hinged doors.
The VWs and MB date the picture to at least 1958 or newer (and I think that's an Auto Union DKW on the far left side of the picture).
