Why do they make the printing on the washing instruction so small?
Not only that, they put a colored ink on a colored tag so you can read it.
Had to bring in the "cheater" magnifying glass from the office

The smaller the tag, the less annoying ii is when you wear the garment. The less annoying it is, the less likely the buyer is to remove it. If the tag stays on the manufacturer can say "we told you so" when the buyer calls to complain about the colors fading. That and small tags cost less to make than big ones.

Seriously, HF frequently has eye loupes on sale for under $1/each; I've got sets scattered all over so I can grab one to see small things. The dollar stores also sometimes have some pretty decent reading glasses in varying strengths. Although my prescription is only about 1 diopter, I find that 2 or even 3 are good for very close work (like rebuilding a speedometer). There's a couple on the work bench, and a couple by the lathe, and some by the computer, and ...
