Wow, now I feel like a poor relative.
 
It's a replica, Nial. Hand hammered sheet aluminium over wooden bucks. My friend & ex partner is the head of the operation in New Zealand... they cut those wheels from BILLET!! I'll post a few more shots if ya'll wanna see 'em. He sends me an e-mail with progress pix now and again. They're doin' a 250 TR as well.
 
For reference, here's a shot of an original XK-SS. It looks like Doc's friend has the curves right, for sure.

[ The photos were taken in the spectator parking area at Lime Rock in July, 1959. This was the day Roger Ward wupped all the big sporty-car names in a Forumla Libre event. Ward drove a 1.7 liter midget (not MG) with a 1 speed transmission, solid axles, and rear brakes only. ]
