Monterey Car Week

Monterey Car week is coming up and things are starting to ramp up around here. For those who will be here, there are two good shows in Pacific Grove that usually bring out some nice British cars. One is on Tuesday the 15th and it is put on by the folks at Classic Motorsports. That show has all types of cars and they are divided up by nationality. The map shows two blocks of British cars. I was there last year and it was great. On Wednesday, they have the Little Car Show that features cars with 1,800 cc or less. Just a block up the street from both shows, there is an antique store on Forest Ave that goes all out with car related stuff. I walked through the store yesterday and it was great fun. They have a ton of car related advertising, books, and other fun stuff. They even have a set of very nice hub caps for a TR4. The owner said that she collects car stuff all year and fills the store every August. They even have two old British motorcycles for sale in the front windows. If you have not been to car week here in Monterey, it is a bucket list item for sure. I live on the Monterey Peninsula and if anyone has questions that I can help with, just let me know.

We will be there with a 1962 Thunderbird. Baby blue with a white top. It is entered in a show on Friday. But we are staying in Pacific grove so will attend those two shows also. It should be another great week!
will be wearing a white hat

Did this event for 20 some odd years. It has gotten too large and traffic is a night mare. Have friends that have a house on scenic drive in Carmel, so lodging isn’t an issue but the traffic is.

A few years ago, traffic was behind us as we returned to Pacific Grove from Carmel in our 1936 Morris 8. Needless to say, the speed up the hill was 35mph. We won't have that problem in my friends Thunderbird.

I went back to that antique store yesterday. They had even more car stuff. The lady that owns it said that she has a big inventory of car stuff and she puts more things out as other things sell and she has room for something new. If you like cars and antiques, you need to visit this place. Car week traffic around Monterey is always a pain. Rumors around here are that the crowds might be a little smaller this year because of Rensport that will be held here at the end of September. It is the 75th anniversary for Porsche, and that event is expected to be off the charts.

If anyone is planning to be at the Tuesday show in Pacific Grove, I will be there with my red 65 Corvette coupe. It would be great to meet some of the faces behind the names here.

When we went in '85,we parked across the track near the foot bridge (Turn 8?).
When we left, all we had to do was walk across the bridge, get in our car,& drive to
the North Gate of Fort Ord.
Wasn't hardly any traffic then.
