I have been racing a 1500 for some time:
There are no "cheap mods" to add extra "horses" to a 1500.
There are plenty of things that you can do, but I wouldn't call any of them "cheap".

While not engine internal related, the biggest performance increase you can get from a 1500 is to ditch the emissions system and go back to twin or single HS4(s).
The single HS4 mod was relatively easy once I applied myself....there are a few threads about it floating around.

Midgetboy your spelling is atrocious, and so is the punctuation. You know your MG already has all the easy bolt up mods (header, Weber, electronic ignition) and I'm sure you have found out you can't wind this motor up if you read those links above. Let's keep it below 5000 rpm.

By the way, I think it was your Midget race car at the Walter Mitty (wasn't that you in the vendor area?) that inspired some of this. I think we got the spring hangers from you that allowed us to lower the rear.

The Walter Mitty is a race weekend at Road Atlanta with historic race cars. Vendors set up in the infield, and lots of beautiful older race cars parade and race around the track. It's a good time.
