Modifying the Jag V12 engine.

Just joined here.I would like to find out what modifications for a Jaguar V12 engine? Not for drag racing but just to improve the engine and performance.
If you have modified your engine or had one done what modifications were done?

Did you fit extractors,or,shorten the air intake trumpets,or any other modification? Was it on a carby engine like the series 1 XJ-12 or the H.E. engine?

Please share your ideas.

Modifications for any of the V12 engines too just incase there are others who would like to know too.
 
I also am new to this forum.I have a '85 xjs v-12 HE I'm trying to restore to a operational mode. I don't blame you for wanting to modify the engine. I think it's a bit over engineered. I have heard the Chevy 327 will almost drop right in to my ride, but I'm trying to keep it original.

Two easy performance upgrades are to remove the intermediate mufflers and have short sections of straight pipe welded in.

Modify the air filter Housings to remove the small trumpets and route cold air from behind the headlights. There are about twenty horses available just by letting the engine breathe.

Several other mods are available if you go to Jaglovers.org and print the free manual "Help for the XJS Owner".
 
Can't help with any suggestions but just wanted to say that that you guys have a magnificent piece of engineering there.

Many moons ago I was in a local race engine shop and they had one built up on the stand, absolutely beautiful. The customer was putting it in a racing hydroplane. My brother was in the shop a few days later and got to hear it roaring on the dyno (lucky #$@!).
