Modifying castle nut

I'm in need of a bit of advice. I'm switching to tapered front bearings in my Morris Minor, and have a small issue with the castle nut. The Morris front spindles are the same (with one key exception) as the Spridget fronts. My car uses the Spridget front hubs so I can have disc brakes, and I'm using the Moss tapered bearing kit. This kit comes with new shorter castle nuts, as the bearing stack is just a bit taller. The shorter nuts allow the nuts to line up with the holes for the cotter pin.

Good stuff, but the one difference in the Minor spindle is that it uses a reverse thread in the left side spindle.

So now I need to figure out a solution. I don't think I can buy the proper, shorter nut but I can buy a new nut in general. Can that be safely machined/filed down so it will line up with the holes?

I'm also considering switching to a different disc brake setup that will negate the issue, but costs a bit more (these parts can be used on my Sprite so no loss there)

Have you checked with Rimmer Bros.? That'd be my first blush idea. And as posted in the other thread, Moss guys will usually try to help, too.

Thanks for the thoughts. I'm considering my options, and am in no rush. The last time I had an issue like this (with a different disc brake conversion that went sideways) I was leaving the next day for a trip in the car, so there was some immediacy to the need. This time I'm taking the opportunity to think things through.

Time to send some questions to the vendors and see what I can find.
