Anyone modified their hood frame to two piece for easier storage when a roll bar is fitted. Don’t like the idea of having the frame at an awkward angle behind the seats, uses too much space and would not like it to prod me in the back if shunted from the rear.
Are you saying two piece ones are the norm? Is it possible to modify a one piece or should I keep it for its originality and buy a two piece?
Two piece was used on the later side-screen Sprite Mk2/Midget Mk1. No need to modify your one piece, particularly if it's in good shape. Someone will buy that one-piece (maybe even me, I need one for Penny) and you can pick up one of the two-piece ones that are all ready to go.
The Mk2 Sprite and Mk1 midget had two piece top bows witch, I believe, are identical to the Mk1 Sprite bows except they are split for stowing in the boot. They sell fairly regularly on E-Bay.
Thanks for that advice just noticed there are a few on eBay all be it one piece so will try and modify my existing one by cutting and inserting a couple of internal tubes to one side to act as sleeves to slot into the other side. If all fails good old eBay can supply a replacement.
Will keep an eye out for two piece, appears used one piece frames are more common this side of the pond as you say would be a shame to cut a perfectly good one. New two piece ones can be brought for about £200 in the UK.

Thanks Rut I may be wrong but the mechanism on this one is not the same as mine and it looks like it would rub on the hood as the hinge is on the outside could this be for a later model.
Yes. I'm afraid that is for a Mk3 Sprite or Mk2 Midget. Too bad shipping would probably not make it doable. They are quite large but I'm sure I have one or two of the ones you need.
Thanks for the offer Kurt, but I’m sure the shipping would be too much I will keep an eye on eBay for one in UK if not bite the bullet and buy new. In the meantime I’ll keep the hood up our summer hasn’t started yet in Wales!
