My BN6 engine (2.6 ltr) was modified with a BJ8 head and cam. Restorer claimed it probably boosts HP to about 125+/-. Other than not being totally stock, is there any downside to this modification?

nevets, no need to feel violated! does it run ok? no coughing, sputtering,clanging,banging,bing-whizzing? just enjoy it man. probably the best thing done for that engine and common.are you lucky enough to also have gotten the 2" carbs?

Not much downside for this mod for your BN6. Only thing I can think of is mileage might be ~5% worse, but that's it.

actually, there is no point to having the 2" carbs with a 2.6 liter motor, you'll just waste more fuel. 1-3/4" carbs will be plenty with your engine. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

It could be worth checking if the restorer had the head skimmed. If not, you will have lost some compression ratio.
