T-Series Model TD

For many years I've had a Doepke model TD (also have an XK-120). I actually got a few parts for it some years ago including a decal for the instrument panel. Problem is I don't know how to apply it. Does anyone have any experience in applying a decal? I think you have to wet it but I'm not sure and afraid to mess it up. I think this model is worth a few $$ so I don't want to ruin it.

In model building most decals are water slide meaning wet it wait 10-20 seconds and it should slide off. If you hold it up to the light you'll probably see the carrier film it was printed on around the edges. If not, it may be printed on a continuous film going all the way to the edges which means you could cut off an edge and wet it and see if a clear piece of film comes loose. One thing to note though, if it is several years old water slide decals sometimes do not age well and the carrier film can break up. I'd spray a clear coat over it first, allow it to dry overnight, then wet it to be sure it doesn't break up due to age.

Thanks. I'll get up the nerve to try it. It's been many, many years since I fooled around with models. Model cars and planes that is...
