ok I had to replace the U joint on the mk2 steering column well most likly the two polyurathaine bushes were the culprit.
ok got that fixed so i go to tighten the steering column in the car, I had just loosened two nuts, well A Im having a devil of a time lining up the auto gear and the letter so N is D and so forth, but while shifting around this dropped out a brass bush that is 230degees of a circle I cant find where to put it back !!

Looks like part of the split ring that holds steering wheel hub to column.

If you had the wheel off and had the part after ou put it back on, Yes! OR look on a parts site like SNG or XKSUnlimited and look at the schematic of parts on steering column XKs is #10.

it looks like it was used as a shim for the steering column, the Automatic letters lined up, when i used it for that pourpous.
