last I knew, the original style rubber tunnel cover is unobtanium...is that still the case? Mine was in poor shape, but has been repaired and looks pretty good... just thought I'd see if anyone started reproducing them...

AFAIK no one has ever reproduced the center tunnel mat nor the original rubber floormats (not the AMCO ones) Sprite guy George Marinos looked into it a number of years ago and found a place that could do it for a $1,000 a set. He couldn't get enough takers to make it work. I purchased a new black tunnel mat from the BMC dealer for my bugeye for the grand sum of $19.95.

thanks for the info rick - i dredged up the other thread too where the guys from Moss were looking into this too. I purchased the ampco repros for my car...i like them. they fit very well and are heavy duty...

.

I left out a very important fact in that $19.95 purchase ... it was in 1967! The mat and the bugeye I drove in high school are both long gone to bugeye heaven. I've seen a few NOS tunnel covers show up on eBay over the years, usually in leaf green and usually selling for stupid money. I wonder if the factory ever supplied the rubber floormats as a replacement part? The rubber was pretty thin and didn't last long under foot.
