QUESTION: Did BMC ever offer the Mk-1 Sprite with a wirewheel, front disc brake option? I do remember a whirewheel kit being offered in the early 60’s for about $450. That was a h*** of a lot of money back then. I know most Bugeyes, with wires, are from wrecked MG Midgets, mine included.

BMC had it as a wheel/brake conversion. Grilling disc brake calipers in front/Riley 1.5 8" rums in the rear/60 spoke wires with 2 eared knock-offs, and a revised pedal box with separate master cylinder, which I think was Girling as well. The Lockheed version was not offered until 1961, but did not require the wire wheels. Sebring versions were always this early wire wheel/disc brake upgrade.
