Mitsy was gifted a "sweating" plant

Saw the dew drop and got out the camera. Used the 90mm manual Vivitar Series-1 and a remote flash (one of the modified Vivitar 285's). First attempts were at ISO 1250 and disappointingly noisy. This was with ISO at 200, ∱22 and 1/40 sec. Distance to the drip was ±6". Flash was about 90° to the right of the lens axis and about 18" from the drip.

Cropped in a bit so the drop is more prominent and you can better see the cool star burst.

I refrained from cropping much more to kinda draw the attention with the diagonal and keep with the "Rule of Thirds".

Another one, had to wait for over an HOUR for the dew to build up to this point. Changed angle slightly as well.

I like the first one best. Not only for the two reasons you mentioned, but the curved background leaves swirling around the droplet. The second shot background looks more random to me.

Appreciate that. The first one was actually composed. I got impatient waiting at the first position for the droplet to form, moved the 'pod and strobe, went and did "other stuff". At that point my attention had shifted to getting a good "starburst" effect.
