MGA Missing under load

Totally rebuilt MGA 1500.

I figured when I put the engine back in I had done the timing correctly as it idles just fine at around
600 RPM.

Now, when driving, I find that there is a lack of power and missing at around 2500 RPM under normal flat driving load.

It has a woodpecker fuel pump which I would immediately suspect but then again its only a 1500 engine.

What are your thoughts which would be very much appreciated.

My very first inclination would be to check the dashpots - either no oil or the wrong (to light?) oil

Very possible a fuel issue, but make sure the distributor mechanical advance is functioning properly and no wobble on the shaft. PJ

Dashpots usually cause spitting back rather than missing. I vote for the distributor. Also remember, if your A has the original style plug wires, they're carbon, and prone to breaking.
