Greetings, old friends from my days with Harold, the MGB GT :smile:

I occasionally get email questions about MGB GTs from people who have looked at my MGB GT web site and assume I am an expert - ha! Poor saps. Sometimes I can even answer them. More often than not I point them to British Car Forum.

This is one that I just received, and can't help with. I thought I'd come along here and ask directly, as it is sort of interesting:

There are 2 holes in each caliper near each other. one gets plugged, one gets the bleed screw. The one that points most inward gets the bleeder. A bleeder in the other upward facing hole would get the plug, else a bleeder would likely touch the wheel. The plugged hole is a drilling for the fluid channel, BTW.

For the future, the hole with the tapered bottom gets the bleeding screw...if there are not problems with interferance, etc.

Both holes are tapered and seal the same way.

Always use the hole at the top. Some calipers have a small metal ball at the bottom for sealing {no taper}.

Early Girling calipers had a ball, but they can, and do, use the later bleeder with the taper.
