As I put this car back together, I'm trying to figure out what looks good to me. I played with a few looks before it went out to paint, but I'm ready to settle on a look.

This first picture is the mirror that came with the car. It wasn't for me and the look I wanted for the car.

This picture is with a pair of mirrors that I used on my Cobra replica. I've seen these used on a few Healeys and they looked great. I didn't like them on my car either and they too are gone.

Below is mirror attempt #3. I think with the dark green, it really needs the pop of the chrome. I had the body may weld up the holes in the fender where the mirrors were. I really don't want to put the mirrors out on the fender. I think it tends to break up one of the best lines of the car; the big swooping front fender. My plan is to just use one mirror and put it on the door somewhere.

Good looking mirrors come with a price tag but if you want one Find a Talbot for your car.

See my Blue over white BJ8 in members pictures it has Spun SS Talbot Racing mirrors on it.

OTOH, My red Healey uses 4" NOS Jaguar mirrors.

In addition to these mirrors when I am traveling I have a Ski boast mirror affixed to the top of the wind screen. This mirror provides a 180 Degree view of the road behind me.

Healey Z, I got mirrors like your third pic. on my car and really like the look. I bought both of them w/flat mirrors and now wish I went w/ convex instead.
 
I have the Talbots (with the green dots). I love the look. They are placed 22 inches from the rear of the fenders. I replaced the right side flat mirror glass with a convex mirror and it made a HUGH difference. I'm thinking of replacing the left one as well.
 
I have a single mirror like #3 on the driver's door on my BJ8. The mirror face is more-or-less aligned with the rear edge of the wind wing. Although I think the mirrors on the wings look cool, overall this is a better place for a mirror (all modern cars have them in pretty much the same relative position, probably with reason). Another on the passenger door might come in handy--and maybe would balance out the look--but with excellent vis anyway I can't say I really need one.

There's a name for that style of mirror (#3), but danged if I can think of it right now.

NO TH, you neeed at least one mirror that shows accurate distance of the objects behind you.-Keoke

I have the dash mirror on a long stalk to look over the soft top sofa in the back of my BJ7. I also have one that clips onto the quarter light - don't recomend that. :nonod: A it damages the chrome and B it want's to fall off occasionally. Recommend the long stalk though :yesnod:.

Sorry guys, but I do not like the bullet shaped mirrors on a Healey. That look does not fit with the Healey's classic lines. It goes better on an MGB or a TR-6.

We have a BJ7 and I can see fine with the inside mirror with the top down, but the blind spot over my left shoulder with the top up is horrendous - when we were using the car last summer, my wife would tell when it was safe to do a lane change to the left as I couldn't see.
I've purchased a quarter light mirror (https://www.ahspares.co.uk/products/productdetail.aspx?GUID=ba4296a9-11c2-4c2f-8aad-007d604b919a ) and was hoping that would solve the blind spot problem.
Keoke: what brand/model ski boat mirror are you using? how do you attach it?
Bob: I'm thinking I've bought the same type of mirror that you're not completely happy with - any suggestions for installing to avoid the problems? I was thinking of putting some tape on the chrome to provide a bit of protection and then smearing some silicon in there as well to help damp out some of the vibrations that might loosen it
Tahoe: I hadn't thought about the suction cup mirror - we used to have one on the dune buggy and it had a curved mirrored surface. I'm wondering if putting that up and moving it more over to the passengers side might help with the blind spot(?).
How do the rest of you guys handle the top up/lane change blind spot (or are the exterior mirrors the only way to go)?
