Mint scanning

Finally got my butt moving to try scans on Mint. I'm not thrilled with the sharpness and need to figure out where the issue lies. I maxed out the sharpness in Darktable after using unsharp mask in the scanner software. Strangely, the scanner only allows On/off, no sliding effect.

Anyway, this shot was after the Laguna Beach fire, about 1995. My girlfriend was shooting her two nephews putting ornaments on a burned tree for their Christmas card. I was lighting with a bounce. She wanted to finish the roll and I'm thinking "You've got it. It's perfectly OK to turn in a roll with only 30 exposures." I looked over my shoulder and saw that the moon had risen. I said "you're on your own!" dropped the bounce card, grabbed my camera and took this.

Well done!!

Your thought about the: "You've got it. It's perfectly OK to turn in a roll with only 30 exposures." tickled me. I used to load bulk and would make up a few "short" rolls, 12 exposures usually. Came in handy for doing news photo work: how many shots of a ceremonial "grip-n-grin" do ya need? How many shots of a crash scene, when the paper will only use one? And if needed just put in a longer roll after.

hmm. I've been too preoccupied (dr. visit, CT scan, babysitting Mitsy's clients' email while she's in Miami) to move the V600 out to my Linux boxes. Now I find the Benz is "self-machining" the rear rotors. And no local parts houses have pads on the shelf any longer.

Today decided I'd do a whole bunch o' nuthin' but what I want to. Which has amounted to sittin' here amusing myself online.
