Minor Bugeye choke knob problem

ncbugeye

I am experiencing a minor problem on ncbugeye and wonder if anyone else has it. When I pull the choke knob out, it won't stay out, it springs back in. So when I am starting from cold I have to hold the choke with one hand and the steering wheel with the other.

I had a Mini many years ago, and its choke knob did not spring back. My memory is fuzzy - you either had to push it in, or perhaps it stayed out if you twisted it, and then sprang back when you untwisted it. The Bugeye choke knob will not twist.

What is the normal behaviour?

The choke spring is designed to pull the choke back.
To hold the choke on use a dime between the knob and the dash bezel. There are small miniature clothes pins made to do the same thing, i.e., you pull the choke out and clip the clothes pin around the shaft between the knob and bezel. You could buy an aftermarket pull and twist cable that when twisted holds that position.
