I'm looking for a set of Minilites for my '72 Midget. Any suggestions on the best place to purchase them?

I think both VB and Moss sell them. If you go that route you could order them from one of our supporting vendors

Thanks, I'm trying to leave Moss & VB as my last options if possible. They seem to be on the higher end of the price range.

I'd really like to find someone who sells Minator Minilites. I've heard they tend to be quite a bit less expensive.
 
Doesn't Hap Sell Superlites? Probably can even get 14" wheels from him.

$500 or more for a set would be on the upper end of the price range.
 
I just ordered the Minilite repros from VB for $499 on sale. It lists online as $599, but when you add it to your cart it shows up as $499.

Anyone know what the appropriate tire size would be for a '60 Bugeye? I believe 175/70/13 would work, but am wondering if the extra 1.2" of width would be a problem for rubbing the wheel wells.

145's are the original size. Closest size that is easily available is 155/80. I prefer 165/70. I think you can run 175/70 with those wheels on a bugeye.

We've had many discussions on tire sizes here, so you can always read through old posts.
 
We're $620 set on Midget 13x5.5", but you get what you pay for, Superlite is a better made and looking wheel.

I agree about the superlites.. they look great with the polished lip and the finish looks better than most of the minilite wheels that I have seen.

Hap,

Do the 5.5's clear the fenders on a swa car? or do you have to flare the fender like in your photo?
 
Since we are discussing wheels I have a "Fit" question. I have a 74 Midget and have a line on 4 Eagle 13" wheels, 4 X 100MM bolt patern, 5.5" wide between bead, 6.38" overall width and a 4.25" back spacing. Will these work for my Midget?
 
NO THEY WON"T!!!!!

Spridget bolt pattern is 4 X 4", <u>not</u> 100mm.

And with that much backspacing, they wouldn't clear either the brakes or the rear inner wheel arches, unless you ran some humongously thick spacers.

Those sound like they're for a Japanese front wheel drive.

I got these wheels for $60 for all four and they look great. Considering that the delta is .062" on the spread, I am going to machine the rims to the 4" spread and make washers using some 4130 or 4340 material with the 82 degree countersink to adapt them to my midget. I am checking tire clearance and they will clear in the rear. Have not checked the front yet. Hopefully I will have time tonight. A spacer would not be difficult to make. They do look sweet!!! Owning a machine shop is a big help.

I had a friend with a Fiat race car, 98mm bcd. He got some 100mm bcd wheels of an Opel and used them. Insted of using the bolts to center the wheel, he used the hub circle by making a radial spacer between the hub and wheel center hole. That and some washers for the bolts and it worked well enough.
