Minifin Rocker Cover

Hi, I bought this Minifin on ebay thinking I might clean it up, polish it, repair the defect, close off the breather outlet, and drill a vent hole in the cap. I've always liked the look since first seeing the aftermarket ones in the catalogs, (no longer made)CAM6822 is Superceded by: FP26
. It appears to be an original piece.
Does anyone know by looking at it about how old it is? What it might have come from, (a Mini Cooper?).
And the little prongs on the bottom? Common at one time? I test fitted a gasket, they are actually a little longer than the gasket is thick (?). Do they indicate anything to anyone other than they are just to hold the gasket in place before the advent of gasket adhesives?
Thanks!

I've had those Minifins on a couple of my old Minis. Nice cover. They can still be had new; here's one source:

...but usually it's cheaper to find a take-off from an MG Metro, which had them as standard.

I have had both with and without the breather. I actually like the breather version better; just ran a line to a K&N filter or catch can. Our little A-Series do like to breathe.

I don't remember having a cover with the prongs, but you might ask at Mini Mania:

Bound to be some answers there...

With all the help I've received on this board, I'm only too glad to offer my meager assistance when I'm able...
