Mini Windscreen Wiper Parking

I am rebuilding the motor and rack for a friends Mini and see there is no adjustment to "Park" the wipers at the end of the cycle. Do you just flip the switch when it gets to the right spot? (that's the way my '68 Land Rover is).

Whether the wiper motor parks depends on the year of the Mini. Mk1 cars definitely did not have a wiper park switch on the motor so you do exactly as you said... wait until the wiper arm is near where you want it to stay and turn the switch off.

You can tell if the wiper motor is even capable of self parking by looking at its cover. Wiper motors with a park function will have an external wire attached to the cover plate over the wiper motor gear.

Later Minis with the round wiper motor... I think they all had the park function but I could be wrong.

The picture below is an early wiper motor with the park wire on the cover.
