MINI [not Mini] wheel question???

I'll soon have to replace the tires on my '05 MINI S. Of course, it has runflats on it now (hate them).

I don't want to purchase another MINI sports wheel just for a spare tire (I think the retail on these things is about $1,000 bucks). And, it appears that MINIs have a rather strange lug patter that makes it hard to find a wheel that fits.

Does anyone know if another (cheap) wheel will fit the MINI???

Thanks!

Mark

I have the Minilite imatations on mine and they are relatively cheap.

Where do you plan on keeping the spare and what types of tires are you considering?

My '05 S is also getting about due, and I also hate the run flats as well. Besides that they aren't cheap.

I haven't considered the kind of tyre yet. And, I'm looking for a cheap wheel for a spare - maybe something from another car in a junkyard or something.

If I find a suitable rim, I'll mount a spare tire on it and keep it deflated, in the trunk. I think a smallish, deflated tire will just barely fit in there.

I think the runflats are inherently a bad idea. You can't patch or repair them and they're expensive as heck. They also "sing" very loudly, and I don't like the way they handle.

If that's not enough . . . Oh well!

If no useful response comes from here, I'll go to the MINI forum. It's a UK-based MINI website that's very informative.

Anyone else???

The lug pattern, according to a friend of mine who owns one, is 4 X 100mm (a common pattern).

There should be a zillion Honda-type wheels that will fit your car.
The smaller 13" Honda wheel probably won't fit, but the 15"(or bigger diameter) should fit, depending on backspacing and caliper clearance. You should be able to snag a Honda space-saver spare for very little money at a junk yard.

Thanks, Nial, I'll give it a shot. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif
