Part of the reason I'm posting this is because that's <span style="text-decoration: underline">me</span> in front of him for about the first 6 minutes.

Not that he was always passing me.
I held him off for the entire time in This Other Video taken that day (his Mini is red).

Sounds like he has a close ratio second gear and the engine falls off the cam in the slow right hand hairpin with the wall to driver's left.
Quite bumpy too...I remember well driving down in the Triumph with my son about 15 years ago. We really liked an Allard that must have been tough to drive on that tight circuit.
