So I have finally found the time to bring my '79 Midget back out to see the daylight. It still has the original tires, so I guess that would be my starting point. Great site, will be posting soon.

And welcome, we like pics as well as progress reports. Just jump right in.

While you've got those wheels off, redo all the brakes & clutch flex hoses, drain the hydraulics & add new fluid.

Welcome to the BCF.

Welcome to the BCF. I own a 76 1500 MG Midget. Since the car has been in storage so long be sure to drain & replace the brake fluid. Check the wheel cylinders, master cylinder, & calipers for rust & pitting. Replace as required. Replace the brake flex hoses & the clutch flex hoses. Replace the fluid in the clutch system. Replace the oil, oil filter, & antifreeze. Drain & replace what gas may be in the gas tank. I hope the gas tank hasn't rusted. Replace the fuel line flex hoses and fuel filter. Install a new battery. Enjoy the car when you get it running. Post pictures when you can.

where in Ontario are you? I'm in Waterloo. Welcome!

The reason for replacing old flexiable brake lines (front wheels) is they collapse in old age. Thats not good. Don't forget to chage the oil. Codensation could have left a lot of water in the block. Also, check the gas tank for water. We all have projects, its part of owning a lbc. Enjoy!!!!

Two years ago I purchased a set of Minator wheels (5x13) and now I need new tires for these wheels. The tires on the midget are 145 SRx13, but I find that there is only 1 inch clearance between the tire and the leaf spring in the rear.
So.....all you guys that have a '79 Midget with aftermarket wheels/tires, what can I go up to in size? I thought about going to 175/60x13, but then I'll need a spacer plate to bring the wheel out and then it will rub on the fender....any thoughts on this?
